In a series of intensive studies conducted by Dorothy Retallack of Denver, Colorado, demonstrated the impact of different types of music on a variety of potted plants. The experiments were controlled under strict scientific conditions, and the plants were kept in large, enclosed cabinets on wheels, in which light, temperature and air were automatically regulated.

Three hours per day with psychedelic rock (acid rock) played through a loudspeaker on the side of the chassis, preventing the growth and destroyed the squash plants, green plants and corn in less than four weeks.

Retallack played the music from two different radio stations in Denver for two groups of petunia. The two radio stations playing Rock music and classical music.

The newspaper “The Denver Post” reported:

Petuniaene who listen to Rock Music refused to flourish. Those who listened to classic music developed six beautiful flowers.

Towards the end of the second week, leaned petuniaene who were subjected to Rock Music in AWAY FROM the radio and showed uneven growth.

Petuniaene who listened to classic music leaned all TOWARDS SOUND. Within a month, all the plants that had been exposed to rock music died.

In another experiment, conducted over three weeks, Dorothy Retallack played the music of Led Zeppelin and Vanilla Fudge to a group of beans, squash, Clematis and praktspragle, she also played an innovative, atonal pop music to another group, and, to check, she played nothing of a third group.

Within ten days you could see that the plants that had been exposed to Led Zeppelin and Vanilla Fudge all leaned AWAY FROM THE SPEAKER. After three weeks they were shriveled and dying .

The beans that were subjected to the ‘new music’ leaning 15 degrees away from the speaker and had roots of medium size.

The plants that had been left in silence had the longest roots and grew the highest.

Furthermore, it was discovered that plants which they used to play quiet classical music not only grew two inches higher than the plants that were left in silence, but also actually leaning AGAINST SPEAKER.

All the plants that stood beside the rock music – leaning AWAY FROM HIGH VOICE – and tried to get away from music.

The plants that stood beside the classical music – leaning against the speakers – and actually tried to get closer to the music.

Finally, all the plants that stood beside the rock music died…

We’d like to thank Mr Mark Paton on this amazing article.

It is used in many different settings, ranging from hospitals to nursing homes to schools to psychiatric hospitals. As a well person, it may be possible to create your own music therapy at home to help you relax and/or to sleep better.
Music therapy is provided by professional music therapists. They work with adults as well as with children. Music therapy can help improve memory, reduce stress, provide an outlet for feelings, and calm the mind and body. There is research that supports music as a therapy and as a stress reducer. It has been used in operating rooms to improve the outcome of surgery, with patients after surgery to reduce pain and help in pain management, with children to help them communicate better and to help teach them to express themselves better, and with Alzheimer’s patients to aid in their treatment. Music therapy is also used to motivate patients to engage in physical rehabilitation.
Music therapy has been shown to change the patient’s brainwaves, breathing, heart rate and mental alertness and focus. It is commonly used in adults and children with various disabilities. This therapy may consist of the patient listening to music, composing music, writing lyrics to music, adapting music to the individual, dancing, and singing to the music. Sometimes the composing is done by the music therapist, while other times it is done by the patient. With music therapy, it is not necessary for the patient to be musically inclined, as there are many modalities of music therapy that can be used. The therapist tailors the therapy to each individual patient’s needs. This therapy is recognized by and many times reimbursed by insurance companies.

The Rolling Stones, an English rock band formed in London in 1962, has helped shape and define music through the decades, having become one of the most iconic, influential rock bands of all time, and still going strong.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards formed a songwriting partnership early in their careers, both crediting manager Andrew Loog Oldham as the one to give them the push they needed to begin their years-long collaboration. Some of these songs include the hits “Get Off of My Cloud,” “Wild Horses,” and “Beast of Burden.”

Article by jortrick.com

The original band consisted of Brian Jones, instrumentalist, pianist Ian Stewart, bassist Bill Wyman, drummer Charlie Watts, with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on vocals. Jagger and Richards eventually took over leadership of the band as Jones became increasingly unable to function. He died in 1969. Mick Taylor replaced Jones just prior to his death, but left the band in 1974. He was then replaced by Ronnie Wood who is still with the band. Wyman quit the band in 1992 and was replaced in 1994 by Darryl Jones, though he is not officially a band member.

The Rolling Stones came to the United States as part of the “British Invasion” which included the Beatles, Manfred Man, and Herman’s Hermits.

During the 1970′s, the band had its share of front page news as several members battled drug addiction and arrests, a sign of the times when drug excess was rampant, even glorified. In the 1980′s the band members cleaned up their act and thrived in the MTV revolution, producing songs and videos that received extensive play as their popularity soared.

Throughout the 1990′s to now, the Rolling Stones have continued to perform in sold-out venues around the world, bringing together old and new generations, and there seems no end in sight.
