In 1912. she sang in the same show as Ma Rainey, who took her under her wing. Eight years later, in 1920., she had her own show and her name was already established in much of southern and eastern United States.
In 1923. she signed as one of the first blues artists, a recording contract with Columbia Records. The classic female blues, which she was a major exponent, had its heyday at that time. With the inclusion of Bessies Alberta Hunter Downhearted Blues, she was an overnight sensation. Bessie Smith became the highest paid black performer of her time. They played with some of the best musicians of the twenties, including Louis Armstrong, James P. Johnson, Joe Smith and Charlie Green.
In 1933. she recorded with John Hammond, under whose influence she has tried to become more a swing singer develop her last songs.

On September 26th 1937. Bessie got seriously injured in a car accident while she was on route to U.S. Route 61 between Memphis and Clarksdale with her ​​lover (and uncle of Lionel Hampton ) Richard Morgan at the helm. She was taken to the black Afro-American Hospital (currently operated as “Riverside Hotel” on the banks of the Sunriver) of Clarksdale where the doctors amputate her arm. Still she died from injuries that same morning. Bessie Smith was 43 years old. Her tomb has long remained unchecked until Janis Joplin and Juanita Green dozens of years later, bought stone inscription for it.

In another experiment, conducted over three weeks, Dorothy Retallack played the music of Led Zeppelin and Vanilla Fudge to a group of beans, squash, Clematis and praktspragle, she also played an innovative, atonal pop music to another group, and, to check, she played nothing of a third group.

Within ten days you could see that the plants that had been exposed to Led Zeppelin and Vanilla Fudge all leaned AWAY FROM THE SPEAKER. After three weeks they were shriveled and dying .

The beans that were subjected to the ‘new music’ leaning 15 degrees away from the speaker and had roots of medium size.

The plants that had been left in silence had the longest roots and grew the highest.

Furthermore, it was discovered that plants which they used to play quiet classical music not only grew two inches higher than the plants that were left in silence, but also actually leaning AGAINST SPEAKER.

All the plants that stood beside the rock music – leaning AWAY FROM HIGH VOICE – and tried to get away from music.

The plants that stood beside the classical music – leaning against the speakers – and actually tried to get closer to the music.

Finally, all the plants that stood beside the rock music died…

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards formed a songwriting partnership early in their careers, both crediting manager Andrew Loog Oldham as the one to give them the push they needed to begin their years-long collaboration. The original band consisted of Brian Jones, instrumentalist, pianist Ian Stewart, bassist Bill Wyman, drummer Charlie Watts, with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on vocals. Jagger and Richards eventually took over leadership of the band as Jones became increasingly unable to function. He died in 1969. Mick Taylor replaced Jones just prior to his death, but left the band in 1974. He was then replaced by Ronnie Wood who is still with the band. Wyman quit the band in 1992 and was replaced in 1994 by Darryl Jones, though he is not officially a band member.

The Rolling Stones came to the United States as part of the “British Invasion” which included the Beatles, Manfred Man, and Herman’s Hermits.

During the 1970′s, the band had its share of front page news as several members battled drug addiction and arrests, a sign of the times when drug excess was rampant, even glorified. In the 1980′s the band members cleaned up their act and thrived in the MTV revolution, producing songs and videos that received extensive play as their popularity soared.

Throughout the 1990′s to now, the Rolling Stones have continued to perform in sold-out venues around the world, bringing together old and new generations, and there seems no end in sight.
